Great wolf and Getting ready

Took 4 of the 5 grand children and 1 cousin to Great Wolf Lodge in door water park in the Poconos for a mid winter treat. Got them out of school early on Thursday and they were out of school on Friday. You know Thursday was a long day for them watching the clock, knowing what they were going to get to do. I bet that clock was slow moving. They had such a great time. The oldest grandson became a Master Magi in the Magi Quest game. That was hard to do.

Trying to get our route laid out for our trip across the country and up to Alaska. We thought we were going to have enough time leaving at the end of March to see and do what we wanted before crossing into Canada on 6/1 but we are finding we don't. I wish we could start the trip in either Colorado or New Mexico. Looks like we will blow past the South East & Mid West as fast as we can so we will have a week each in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and sometime in California. We want more time in California. I am sure we will continue to adjust our plans over and over. Driving a class A motor home is not the same as driving a car. It takes a lot out of you. Driving for more than 5 hours is hard and you only get about 200 - 250 miles under your belt. So it takes much longer to get where you want to go.

I have only 3 more days until I am no longer the nursing supervisor at my job where I have spent 18 years of my life. Such mixed feelings that I have a hard time describing. I have dreamed of this but I love my job (I did not even realize how much I did until I gave my resignation). I feel like I am at the height of my career time and I am leaving it. Too young not to be working. I am going to miss the job, co-workers, and patients so much. Missing them now.

Speaking of missing, it is hitting me how much I am going to miss my family. I have never been away from them or my home for more than 2 weeks, let alone 6 months. It is amazing the emotional swings you have when doing something like this. So happy, so sad, so excited, so scared all at the same time. I am glad there is Skype and cell phones. At least with Skype I will be able to see them.

New Computer and other stuff

"Needed" a new computer for this trip. Have been looking and looking and we purchased a Asus laptop today. Now we will have his and her computers so we won't be waiting and waiting for each other. He is not so happy, according to him we "needed" this like I needed another hole in the head. But I am happy, enough said Ha Ha.

I needed to obtain a new nursing license (every two years) and was informed by Delaware that I needed a Maryland license now. I have been in the process of filling out these documents, this thick packet, the size of a novel. I think you really need to be a graduate from Harvard to figure this out. As part of this process, I had to go to the county jail and was finger printed today. I thought to myself that if I had any criminal activity in my past I would already have been finger printed! And for free, I have to send $57.50 for the processing. I will need to spend nearly $250 to get my license changed. Wow! I love MD.

Something New

Well, 2010 is the year for Something New. I have recently resigned, after 18 years, from the job that I love to travel the US, including Alaska, with my husband Tommy. Have dreamed of doing this since I was 15. Here I am now, 34 years later, and will be leaving our home in the spring on a spectacular adventure. I mean can you imagine taking off and traveling for six months! I still really haven't wrapped my brain around it. I really haven't wrapped my brain around leaving my job. I really haven't wrapped my brain around leaving the grandchildren. I haven't really wrapped my brain around leaving the kids, my Mom, the house, and the summer on the boat! There are so many things to wrap your brain around that I did not expect while I was fantasizing. Fantasy is different from reality! Difficult and exciting at the same time.

Another Something New is this Blog. I have never done anything like this before and thought it would be a great diary to take family and friends along on our trails. Be patient with me since I am a newbee. Be prepared for some awesome pictures in the future.
Any suggestions from seasoned bloggers will be welcomed.

This is it for my first post on my first blog. I hope the blog will be enjoyable to you and me both!
