Coffee in bed, a card, and my daughter in San Francisco with me. Could it be any better? I think not. A call to my own Mom to wish her well and we are off again.
We heard of this place called the “Mystery Spot” where this 150 sq ft area defies gravity. They are not sure why but it could have been from a meteor. They said they had scientist there with their gadgets and said it is an anomaly. It is freaky. You will have a level area and there are levels to prove it. You get 2 people to stand facing each other and measure yourself up to each other and see who is taller. Then you switch places, suddenly the shorter person is as tall as the other person. Here you can be on a flat surface but can lean to a 17% grade. Water rolled uphill on a board. Very strange place. It even made you feel strange, out of sorts, if you will and a bit nauseous. Fun though.
After the Mystery Spot we drove back down to just south of Big Sur on Hwy 1 so Erica could see the views. Yes the cliffs and blue water was waiting for us. Lunch a top the cliffs, with the ocean and rocks below, was just what we needed before we hung out on the beach in Carmel by the Sea for a while. What a lovely beach. White sand, drift wood for character, and of course the blue water. A farmers market brought us some of the nicest produce. Asparagus, white peaches, grapefruit, and these monster strawberries! These bad boys filled my hand and sweet! Dinner was big gooey cheeseburgers on sourdough bread baked fresh at Boudin in SF, asparagus, potato salad, strawberry shortcake and extra strawberries to dip in melted chocolate. We rolled to a comfy spot to settle in for a movie after we watched the sun set over the ocean.
What a nice Mothers Day. Happy Mothers Day to all.
