Sea Lion Cave and Lighthouses

We have been on our trip for 2 months now, we left on 3/17. I cannot believe all that we have seen. Our United States of America, we take her for granted, but she has so much to offer and is amazing.

We have a few rainy days ahead of us including off and on rain today. It is spring, so it is to be expected, and we really haven’t had to much of it, up to this point. No complaints here.

Sea Lion Cave in Florence, OR is the largest sea cave in the world and was a must see.image   The sea lions spend most of the winter in the cave and go out in the warmer weather. image image Not only were there Sea Lions but there was a huge population of birds that flew in and out of the cave.

Yesterday we were on the look our for waterfalls, today, lighthouses.

We found the 65 ft Umpqua River Lighthouse just south of Reedsport that has a distinctive red and white automated light.image  The Heceta Head Lighthouse is identical to the Umpqua River lighthouse and was lighted back in 1894. This strong light ccan been seen 21 miles out at sea and is Oregon’s strongest light. image The Yaquina Head Lighthouse 93 ft tower and is the tallest on the Oregon’s coast. It stands 162 ft above sea level and was illuminated in 1873 after replacing the Yaquina Bay lighthouse. image We found the Coyote RV Park on the Siletz River. Surrounded by mountains, this quiet river is loaded with fish and seals are seen here regularly. If I was quicker with the camera you would have seen one in front of our RV since we are sitting just a few feet off the rivers bank.image  image This is a nice place and would come back here if we pass this way again.
