Happy Fathers Day and Summer Solstice

First, I want to wish all fathers a Happy Fathers Day. Enjoy your day!

We were worried for the Fairbanks people today. Today is the Summer Solstice Festival otherwise known as the Midnight Sun Festival and we awoke to pouring rain. We thought it would be a wash out but then we thought - No Way! The Alaskan people would not let a little rain darken their festival. No, they would dress appropriately and party on. If they can tolerate –40 degree temps, a little rain wouldn’t stop them. Luckily, the skies cleared at about 1 pm and the festival was saved. There was plenty to eat, games for kids, image      a break dancing competition, image and bands were playing their music on many of the street corners.image They even had a fire breathing dragon.image   I was able to pan for gold and had a lesson on the correct way to pan.image      I did not go home empty handed!image Look at my loot! (these look like nuggets, but really, they are flakes, but it’s a start!)image Another fun day here in Alaska. Now, will I stay awake for the solstice at 3:29 am?
