More Panning

We drove 60 miles outside of Fairbanks to Davidson’s Ditch off of Nome Creek to try to hit it big again. Panning for gold is back breaking work especially when you don’t really know what you are doing. Sorry to say we still didn’t find a flake, nugget, or brick of gold. Bummer! But it is fun trying.image We drove around sight seeing and saw more of the oil pipeline. At this site we could see it cross three mountain tops.image

I had a little visitor who took a rest on my shoulder. image           image

Another campfire image and Mango Margaritas for dessert. image Still amazes us how light it is at midnight. image At this point it never gets dark. At midnight there is just a bit of pink in the sky that will stay for hours and by about 3:30 am it looks like it is just a little cloudy outside.  Because the days are so long, people don’t sleep much. I drove up to the Bx/Px to get an internet connection at 11:10 pm and on the way there were runners out running, people riding their bikes, and anglers dropping a line in the water. It is a different life here.

  1. Have you seen any little home vegetable gardens yet where their veggies are enormous. It may be too soon but I never saw such big veggies because of the 24 hour daylight. Are you going to Ft. Wainwright and the North Pole christmas shop. I still hang my ornaments every year. Thank God your weather has been so beautiful.
