Panning

We went 16 miles outside of Fairbanks today to strike it rich! There is an old dredge site, the Felix Pedro’s Discovery Claim, that is owned by the organization called the Pioneers of Alaska and it is open to the public. Felix Pedro is the man who’s gold discovery put Fairbanks on the map.  So we started panning, we kept panning,

       and we continued to pan. Nothing. Nothing but a boot full of ice cold water, a numb foot, and stiff knees. Felix must have gotten it all. We went window shopping at a jewelry store in Fairbanks to look at nugget jewelry. Maybe I will get a nugget one way or another. But not today.
