Hoo Doo I think I am… I am one of the most beautiful places in the world. I am Bryce Canyon.
This place is fantastic. The Hoo Doos remind me of the drippy sand castles you made as a child when you allowed sand and water to run off your pinched together fingers to form peaks.
The color, so rich and vibrant. The tan tips, the red bottoms. It appears as if the color has seeped from the pinnacle only to saturate the Hoo Doo’s base to fire red.
The Grottos
The elevation, at times over 9000 ft, allowed you to see far and wide.
A natural bridge in Bryce.
Strangest thing, there was a rainbow just out of the blue by the sun.
We called this peak… bunnies head, original huh?
This one… Granny’s Hiney.
Lizards sunned, deer grazed, and Ravens visited. Spring has come to Bryce Canyon. While snow was still plentiful, the warm sun let you enjoy the outdoors in a light jacket or just a shirt. Felt strange being in all of this snow and yet so warm.At night the stars are so bright here. Part of it is the elevation and part of it is Bryce has some of the cleanest air in our country.
We traveled through Red Canyon, and I mean thru Red Canyon, to and from Bryce. Amazing how the rocks can be on fire then, just that fast, end and return to brown, black, beige and green cliffs.
Antelopes were playing just outside Bryce – really they were scrambling to get away from our car. Besides the deer, because we have them at home, they were the first real wild large animals that we’ve seen. In open ranges we saw cows, bulls, and horses roam, but, they were still captive. We’ve seen buffalo in someone’s front yard. But again they were owned. These Antelopes were truly free. Pretty little things aren’t they?
We are going to Zion National Park in the morning, about 90 miles away. We will see how different or similar it is. Out here 5 miles can feel like a whole new world.
Oh… on a side note. Look at what the high elevation does to a bag of chips. They puff up so much it looks like they will pop.
If bottles of ketchup, mustard, shampoo, etc. are turned on their lids, they spluge out as soon as you pop open the lid from the change in pressure from being so high up. Something we have never experienced before.
I keep thinking nothing could be more beautiful or amazing. Then comes new pictures. Outstanding!!!! Love the colors, but my favorite is Grannys hiney. It really looks a little familiar.
