Sedona, Time Shares, & Train Tickets

We decided to switch RV parks – found one $10 a night cheaper, a bit closer to Sedona, and the one we stayed in could not get internet as promised. We are figuring this out. You ask a campground if they have internet (WiFi), they say yes. When you get there, get set up, and try to get connected to the Net, you can’t. You call the office and they say “Oh we’ve been having trouble”. From now on we are asking if they have working internet at the site. We will see if that helps.

After set up at the new RV park (with working internet) we set off to Sedona. Walked all over downtown looking at the shops. Some were very nice with high end items but many were the T shirt type.  This cactus was in full bloom and smelled so light and sweet.image A passer by said the bloom only lasts one day. I don’t know if that is true, but if it is, we were lucky to see it.image Sedona has lots and lots of time share “sales people”. Ok Ok Ok I know better. We know better. But we got roped in all the same …. all over getting a map of the area. We took the tour that lasted 90 minutes to 2 hours. Luckily the tour took place when Tommy and I were going to leave downtown Sedona and head back to the RV to relax before dinner. So we had some down time. Tommy and I also knew we weren’t going to buy a time share, for crying out loud we are on a 7 month trip! We went for the $175 1st class Verde Canyon Railroad tickets and $30 cash. We were going to take this train ride anyway – not the first class trip though- so we thought What the Heck! The tour wasn’t bad at all, had a real nice sales guy, Mel, who wasn’t high pressure/hard sell at all. If we were going to buy he was the kind of guy we would like to buy from. The General Manager flew helicopters so he and Tommy “hit it off”. Any way, if we were going to buy a time share they needed to give many more “points” for the money.

Headed home happy with the 1st class train tickets and $30 cash, looking forward to surf and turf – filet on the grill with crab cakes I had made from the crabs we caught and picked in the fall. Life is good.
